The Wine Festival in Valtice.

Our Czech wine tasting experience takes you to the heart of one of Europe’s greatest cultural treasures.  The vibrant Southern region of Moravia has been captivating visitors for centuries with its excellent cuisine, colourful folklore, distinctive architecture and its people’s natural hospitality. Not to mention the wine, of course!

Modern visitors will still find the old traditions preserved by local people in their unmistakable historic dress. Every stage of the agricultural year is marked by some kind of festival or party and the Czech wine tasting experience will take you to the heart and soul of South Moravia.

A wine tasting experience which combines history and hospitality.

A central feature of our wine tasting experience is the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Lednice-Valtice Cultural Landscape. It was created by the Liechtenstein family in the 18th and 19th Centuries. It is UNESCO protected because it is historically unrivalled and has become known as ‘The Garden of Europe’.

Lednice Chateau and gardens. A UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1996.

The UNESCO Biosphere Reserve of Pálava is nearby, where you can find sustainably-farmed vineyards and natural steppe ecosystems. A Paleolithic ceramic Venus figurine found near the village of Dolní Věstonice dated human habitation and culture in the region to between 25000 and 29000 years old. Nowhere else in the world are there two such diverse UNESCO-protected sites so close together. Our wine tasting experience combines the wine with the history which shaped the people who make it.

The vineyards of South Moravia lie mostly within these protected landscapes. They enjoy a warm, sunny and dry climate, on hillsides with a tremendous ability to accumulate heat. This creates excellent conditions for the growing season and grape maturation and along with the highly calcerous soil, helps to produce the distinctive wines of the region. This climate also shapes the Czech wine tasting experience. The weather is warmer for longer than most places in Central Europe and the people are relaxed and friendly because of it. There are no wine snobs, only wine lovers who love to share their wine, food and culture with visitors. That is the difference between tasting wine and a wine tasting experience!
